Description

We’re looking for a driven and commercially minded Accounts Senior to join our team, working closely with SME clients and owner-managed businesses. This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll go beyond the numbers... helping clients understand their finances, make informed decisions, and grow with confidence. You’ll be a key point of contact, building strong relationships and delivering high-quality accounts and advisory support.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare statutory accounts for a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients, ensuring accuracy and clarity. Review the work of junior team members, offering guidance, mentorship, and ongoing support to help them develop. Build lasting client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and sounding board for business decisions. Manage your workload effectively to meet deadlines while maintaining hgh standards. Identify opportunities to add value, whether through improving processes, offering insights, or supporting business growth. Collaborate with managers, partners, and other teams to deliver a seamless client experience. Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards and industry developments, bringing fresh insight to your work.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

AAT Level 4 qualified or ACA/ACCA part-qualified, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a practice environment. Strong experience in preparing statutory accounts for SMEs and owner-managed businesses. Good working knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements. Confident reviewing work and supporting junior team members with clear, constructive feedback. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and explain financial information clearly to non-finance clients. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise effectively. Commercial awareness and a proactive mindset, with the confidence to identify opportunities to add value for clients. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
