Job Overview

We’re looking for part-time Administrative Assistant to cover a maternity leave. Key elements of your job will be to:

Provide proactive operational support for the department Be responsible for setting up temporary employment contracts Support committees Create a weekly communication update

Experience of working in a higher education environment is not essential; we will support you to settle in and excel in the role.

About You

To be a suitable candidate for this position you will have:

excellent organisational skills in managing competing priorities great attention to detail in compiling information/checking/uploading information good computer skills including Microsoft Office programmes and the ability to learn new software packages a team-orientated and flexible approach a customer focussed attitude to provide the best service to colleagues and our students

As Administrative Assistant you will be part of departments within the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) - Lancaster University and primarily work in the department Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC), Lancaster Environment Centre - Lancaster University. You will work along side other professional services staff in departments and the faculty, mainly with staff members and PhD students. It’s a friendly, busy and inclusive work environment.

Contract and contact

This post is offered on a part-time 0.5 full time equivalent (FTE) - 18.25 hours, fixed term basis with a hybrid work pattern, or you can choose to be fully on-campus. The post will start 1 May or as soon as possible thereafter until mid February 2027.
