Full Time 37 hours per week, Fixed Term for 6 months.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of a very dedicated team supporting Bristol to tackle food inequity, strengthen food resilience and support community cohesion and wellbeing. It presents a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills to develop your career with the prospect of stepping into the permanent full-time Allotment Officer post when it becomes available.

You will be responsible for managing Bristol City Council’s allotment service, overseeing the management of over 4000 tenants on nearly 5,500 allotment plots across 95+ allotment sites.

You will be working to develop and improve the allotment service through the Food Growing and Allotments Strategy 2024-2039. You will have the opportunity to manage income and expenditure by increasing plot lettings and coordinating repairs and maintenance.

You will work closely with over 40 Site Reps across the city, empowering and upskilling them to carry out their roles. This is a development role so we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and can balance a varied workload with great customer service.

The job can be a mixture of hybrid working from home, onsite and from the Parks Depot at Bower Ashton. It may require some evening and weekend working.

For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.

If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.
