Responsibilities
- Day-to-day Dental Nurse duties may include:
- Welcoming patients and assisting with appointment scheduling
- Handling basic patient enquiries professionally and appropriately
- Preparing surgeries, sterilising instruments, and maintaining infection control to CQC standards
- Assisting clinicians during treatments and accurately updating patient records in line with GDPR
- Supporting patients’ comfort, reassurance, and overall dental experience
- Monitoring and managing stock, equipment, and surgery readiness
- Maintaining clean, safe, and fully equipped clinical areas
- Upholding patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times
- Collaborating with dentists and the wider team to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care
- Alongside your learning, your job role within the practise will entail assisting dentists, sterilising & preparing equipment, reception duties and supporting patient experience.
Benefits
- Wage: £19,760 a year
- Hours: 40 hours a week, varied shifts within the opening hours of Monday to Friday, 7.30am-6pm. There will be three 12-hour shifts required a week.
- Duration: 1 year 6 months
- Start date: Monday 8 June 2026
- Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

- Training provider: TEMP DENT DENTAL AGENCY LIMITED
- Training schedule: Provided by Tempdent: Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship, Functional Skills (if applicable), Flexible online delivery model, Quarterly start dates throughout the year, Induction and regular progress support.
- Course contents include: Identifying relevant anatomy, evaluating health risks of drug use, understanding scientific principles of biomaterials, identifying signs of abuse and neglect, understanding child and adult safeguarding, assessing patient anxiety, contributing to investigations and diagnostic procedures, undertaking orthodontic assessment, obtaining valid consent, recording patient history and oral health assessments, preparing records and equipment, managing radiographs, managing patient anxiety, supporting patients, monitoring oral health status, making follow-up care arrangements, providing chairside support, preparing and mixing dental materials, managing clinical risks, implementing infection control procedures, preparing and maintaining clinical environments, identifying and managing medical emergencies, providing preventive advice, supporting management of acute oral conditions, adopting evidence-based practice, effective communication (verbal, written, electronic), maintaining patient records, treating patients with care and compassion, communicating with colleagues, respecting professional roles, demonstrating team working, managing and delegating work, taking a patient-centred approach, raising concerns, complying with safety processes, acting in accordance with best practice and legal frameworks, demonstrating integrity, personal accountability, working in partnership, leading and managing where appropriate, supporting patients with barriers to access, treating with dignity and respect, advocating for patient needs, speaking up to protect others, evaluating health promotion, addressing discriminatory behaviour, evaluating environmental impacts of treatment methods, contributing to healthcare communities, evaluating evidence bases, utilising feedback for development, demonstrating personal development planning, evaluating new techniques and technologies, assessing capabilities and limitations, recognising personal biases and their impact, managing contextual factors, demonstrating professional responsibility, developing and maintaining knowledge, demonstrating wellbeing strategies, demonstrating continuous improvement, and managing time and resources.
