Company Description The Marie Trust is a Glasgow-based charity dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. The organization provides no-barrier access to vital services, including Hospital Outreach Service and a Homeless Prevention Service delivered across Glasgow Hospitals, Education, and Counselling. With a focus on inclusivity, The Marie Trust supports individuals with who experience barriers in accessing therapy as a result of homelessness, addiction and mental health challenges.

Contract type: Fixed-Term, June 2026 to May 2027. Possibly continued funding post May 2027

Hours: 1 day per week, Monday to Friday. Can be flexibly around days.

Salary: £28325 pro rata

Job Purpose To design and facilitate group and individual art psychotherapy interventions for adults to experience or are at risk of homelessness to access The Marie Trust’s services. This project aims to offer a therapeutic space for creative expression, emotional regulation, self-reflection, and interpersonal connection through art therapy. The post holder will work collaboratively within the Counselling and Psychotherapy Service and with wider Marie Trust staff, contribute to assessment and evaluation processes, and ensure that sessions are delivered in a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed manner.

Key Responsibilities

Therapeutic Practice · Facilitate weekly group art psychotherapy sessions, including preparation, delivery, and post-session tasks. · Provide one-to-one art therapy for clients who experience significant challenges in engaging in groups and would benefit from one-to-one art therapy. · Offer time limited art therapy sessions in external services, reaching people who would not normally gain the opportunity to engage in therapy. · Plan and deliver structured yet flexible sessions combining artmaking, therapeutic reflection, and optional psychoeducation components. · Support participants in both directive and self-directed art-making based on individual therapeutic goals. · Promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and the safe expression of trauma through non-verbal therapeutic techniques. · Conduct pre-group assessments to determine participant suitability and co-develop therapy goals. Collaboration and Co-Production · Work collaboratively with The Marie Trust’s counselling and crisis intervention teams to align therapeutic aims. · Contribute to the co-production of the project with clients, staff, and those with lived experience. · Encourage participant-led outcomes such as a group artwork, exhibition, or publication. Monitoring and Evaluation · Maintain accurate and confidential case notes and group records in line with data protection and clinical governance standards. · Participate in evaluation and feedback processes to measure therapeutic outcomes and inform future service delivery. · Use and adapt existing feedback tools within The Marie Trust to gather meaningful data. Professional Practice · Adhere to HCPC standards and ethical guidelines for art psychotherapy. · Engage in regular clinical supervision (can be arranged or reimbursed by The Marie Trust). · Attend relevant team meetings and contribute to the overall learning and development of the project. Person Specification Criteria - Essential HCPC Registered Art Psychotherapist. Experience of facilitating group therapy. Experience supporting people with complex trauma or mental health needs Understanding of psychodynamic and creative therapeutic models Knowledge of trauma-informed practice

Desirable Further training in trauma-informed care or group facilitation Experience working in homelessness, addiction, or third sector settings Co-production or participatory arts project experience Familiarity with psychoeducation and mentalisation approaches Understanding of safeguarding in community settings
