Location: Hybrid – Home and Bradford Office Salary: £33,000 per annum Contract: Permanent | Full time (37.5 hours)
We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting our central services. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build on their accounting experience in a supportive organisation where you can develop your skills in management accounting, budgeting and financial partnering.
Working closely with stakeholders across central functions and colleagues across finance, you’ll help deliver accurate financial reporting, provide practical financial support, and contribute to continuous improvement across the service.
What You’ll Do Prepare and post accounting entries including accruals, prepayments, and re-codes Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, forecasts and budget reporting Analyse financial performance and investigate variances, providing clear commentary and insight Deliver ad hoc financial analysis to support operational decision-making Prepare balance sheet reconciliations in line with reporting deadlines Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process across central service functions Build strong relationships with budget holders, providing guidance and helping develop financial management understanding Provide finance systems support and respond to finance queries from colleagues Ensure compliance with financial procedures, controls and regulatory requirements Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance systems, processes and reporting
What We’re Looking For AAT qualification (or equivalent experience), or willingness to study towards a professional qualification Experience working within a finance or accounting environment Strong Excel and IT skills Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance colleagues Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Desirable Experience within housing, property or a multi-site organisation Exposure to budgeting, forecasting or management accounting activities
