Through our specialist divisions - topside, marine, subsea, cables, logistics and industrials, we are a pivotal link in the global offshore energy project chain, ensuring our customers’ projects are delivered safely, reliably and efficiently. We are currently seeking an Authorised Technician - Vestas V90/V164 to join our Topside Division.

Location Open to candidates located anywhere within the United Kingdom.

Contract 5-month contract (PAYE).

Core Purpose The Authorised Technician is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and high‑quality operation and maintenance activities across offshore wind assets. The role ensures turbines, balance‑of‑plant systems, and associated infrastructure are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements, OEM specifications, and site operational procedures. The technician plays a key part in maximising turbine availability, maintaining asset integrity, and supporting the wider O&M team in delivering reliable energy production.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Operations and Maintenance: Conduct planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and corrective maintenance on offshore wind turbines and associated equipment. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults. Execute high-voltage (HV) switching operations where authorised, following approved switching schedules. Carry out inspections, functional tests, component replacements, and upgrades in accordance with OEM and site procedures. Record all work performed in digital maintenance systems, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.

Safety, Compliance and Authorisation: Work safely under the site’s Safety Rules and act within assigned Authorisation levels (e.g., Authorised Technician, HV Competent Person). Participate in Toolbox Talks, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes. Ensure compliance with relevant standards, including LOLER, PUWER, WAH, and confined space procedures. Maintain up‑to‑date certifications (GWO BST, GWO ART, medical fitness, offshore survival, etc.). Actively contribute to a strong safety culture, identifying and reporting hazards, near misses, and improvement opportunities.

Offshore and Marine Operations: Travel offshore via crew transfer vessel (CTV) or helicopter, adhering to all marine safety protocols. Undertake turbine access, climb, and rescue operations in line with GWO requirements. Support vessel deck operations, loading/unloading of tools and equipment, and completion of offshore logistics documentation.

Asset Integrity and Performance: Perform condition monitoring checks, including visual inspections, lubrication routines, vibration monitoring, and SCADA-based analysis. Escalate emerging risks such as component wear, corrosion, overheating, or abnormal turbine behaviour. Support root‑cause investigations and implementation of preventative actions. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to increase turbine uptime and reduce maintenance downtime.

Teamwork and Communication: Work collaboratively with Lead Technicians, Site Supervisors, and Control Room personnel. Provide clear shift handover notes and technical feedback. Represent the O&M team professionally when interacting with clients, contractors, and stakeholders. Mentor new technicians and support competence development within the team.

Skills and Experience Essential: Experience in turbine O&M, heavy industry, or other safety-critical environments. Strong fault-finding ability across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Comfortable working at height, in confined spaces, and in offshore environments. Strong safety mindset with zero‑harm focus. Reliable, proactive, and able to work in challenging offshore conditions. Effective communicator and team player. Analytical, solution‑oriented, and committed to high technical standards.

Desirable: HV Authorisation or switching experience (e.g., 66kV/33kV/11kV systems). Experience with SCADA systems and digital maintenance platforms. OEM‑specific turbine experience (e.g., Siemens Gamesa, Vestas, GE, Senvion). Previous offshore wind O&M experience.

Qualifications Recognised apprenticeship or qualification in electrical, mechanical, or renewable engineering (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent). Valid GWO certifications (BST, ART). Medical and offshore fitness certification (OGUK or equivalent).

We are an equal opportunity employer committed to a fair and inclusive recruitment process for all applicants.
