Band 6 Metabolic Research Nurse/Charge Nurse
37.5 hours per week
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse to join the metabolic research team based in MIDRU at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. The post holder will work across a range of cardiovascular and metabolic medicine research projects involving unlicensed Clinical Trial Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPs).
The post holder must be a registered nurse capable of autonomous clinical practice, with substantial post registration experience in relevant clinical areas and evidence of maintaining up to date professional knowledge. Strong attention to detail is essential.
Responsibilities include day to day coordination of cardiovascular and metabolic research studies, supporting trial set up, and recruiting participants. The role involves close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality research. Previous research or service evaluation experience is desirable but not essential.
The post holder will work with a range of teams across the Trust and may be required to work flexibly including variation in working hours in accordance with service needs.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
The post holder will work alongside the metabolic research team, including nurses, data managers and physicians, and will be responsible for the effective and efficient day to day delivery of multiple clinical trial projects and nurse led clinics across cardiovascular and metabolic medicine. The post holder is professionally accountable for maintaining standards of professional practice and standards of care.
The role includes providing professional leadership, mentorship and education to members of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will undertake and supervise research and teaching activities to set, monitor and continuously improve standards of care and patient experience. The post holder is accountable for safe and effective clinical practice.
The post holder will work collaboratively with research nurses and senior research nurses across the Trust to seek and provide support and to deliver compassionate, high quality care.
