We have an exciting opportunity at our Oxford Road site and are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists who have experience within the Histopathology department and a passion for clinical excellence, quality and a drive for career development. The post holder will act as a registered Biomedical Scientist who provides scientific services to patients and clients as an aid to clinical diagnosis.

Working pattern Monday-Friday 7am-7pm

Suitable candidates will require Histopathology experience post-registration. Candidates must be HCPC registered to be appointed as a band 5, however, candidates working towards their IBMS registration portfolio will be considered for appointment at a trainee level ( A trainee (non HCPC registered) will be at Band 5 Annex 21 )

Annex 21 Options pay scales, dependent on holding a professional qualification:

(i) up to 12 months prior to completion of training:

75% of the top of the band

(ii) more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training:

70% of the top of the band

(iii) more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training:

65% of the top of the band

(iv) More Than Three Years From Completion Of Training

60% of the top of the band

Pay will not fall below national minimum wage.

Main Duties Of The Role

You'll routinely process tissue samples, in line with department protocols and ISO 15189 standards You'll work as part of a team of highly dedicated scientific staff to ensure the quality of all tests performed using internal and external quality schemes You'll perform specialist automated and manual tests throughout the department and be involved in auditing processes, reagent control, and maintenance of equipment You'll support in the day-to-day supervision of Medical Laboratory Assistants within the department You'll rotate through all sections of the department and will be supported to become a fully trained and competent member of the team.

We support and encourage our Biomedical Scientists to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, which could be internal talks and seminars, as well as attending approved courses. We also have a dedicated Training Lead, supporting the Directorate strategy for training, as well as Training Officers within each department. The department also has full HCPC training status for pre and post registration IBMS portfolios, and full ISO 15189 accreditation.
