Business Support Officer - Finance

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Plymouth City Council’s Service Centre as a Business Support Officer, working with our Children’s and Young Persons Finance Team.
Previous experience is not essential as full training will be provided.
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals with the drive, energy and commitment to support the delivery of a high performing, customer focused service across a range of access channels.
About The Role
You will work in a busy, fast paced environment, playing a key role in providing financial and administrative support to frontline services. The role requires accuracy, sound judgement and the ability to work confidently within legislative boundaries, council policies and service guidance.
You will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Experience of using Microsoft Teams and working with digital systems is essential.
Key Responsibilities Include
Processing invoices, including raising Purchase Orders and working with other financial teams. Creating ad hoc payments, such as rent payments and support payments. Making bookings using Purchasing Cards to meet urgent client needs, including emergency accommodation, equipment for Care Leavers, and travel arrangements for care visits and statutory social work visits.

The service operates on a flexible working basis, with a blend of home working and office based work at Ballard House and other appropriate Plymouth City Council locations.
