Role Overview
The Senior Manager in Capital Projects Cost Management leads cost advisory and commercial management for large-scale infrastructure, construction, and capital investment programs. This role combines strategic oversight, client advisory, and delivery leadership across complex, multi-million (or billion) dollar projects.
Key Responsibilities
Cost & Commercial Leadership Lead end-to-end cost management across project lifecycle (feasibility → design → procurement → construction → closeout) Develop and oversee: Cost estimates and benchmarking Budget controls and forecasting Value engineering initiatives Ensure alignment with client financial objectives and ROI expectations Project & Program Delivery Manage multiple large-scale capital projects or portfolios Establish cost control frameworks, governance, and reporting structures Monitor cost performance, identify variances, and implement corrective actions Client Advisory Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders (CFOs, Project Directors, Investment Committees) Provide insights on: Cost optimization strategies Risk and contingency planning Procurement and contract strategy Support business case development and investment decisions Commercial & Contract Management Oversee contract administration (FIDIC, NEC, bespoke contracts) Manage claims, variations, and dispute resolution processes Ensure compliance with commercial and legal frameworks Risk & Governance Identify and manage cost-related risks and opportunities Establish governance frameworks for cost control and reporting Lead and mentor cost managers, quantity surveyors, and analysts Drive capability building and knowledge sharing Support recruitment and talent development 7. Business Development Drive transparency through dashboards and executive reporting Team Leadership & Growth Support sales, proposals, and client pitches Build long-term client relationships and identify growth opportunities Contribute to market positioning in capital projects advisory
