Catering Assistant

We are recruiting three part‑time Catering Assistants to join our Patient Services team.

Hours Available

Two posts: 10.5 hours, 7 days on / 7 days off Shifts: 16:30–19:30 or 17:00–20:00 One post: 16.25 hours, Monday to Friday Shift: 16:45–20:00 We are looking for caring, flexible, and hardworking individuals with good communication skills and a positive, can‑do attitude who can work well as part of a team and support the patient experience.

As a Catering Assistant at Burton Hospital, you will work as part of the Facilities and ward teams to support the preparation and service of food and beverages to patients, visitors, and staff. You will contribute to delivering a high‑quality, patient‑focused catering service that enhances the overall patient experience.

You will consistently demonstrate excellent customer care, showing kindness, courtesy, and compassion when interacting with patients, visitors, colleagues, and other staff members.

The role also includes maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness. This involves carrying out cleaning duties within kitchen and associated areas in line with departmental cleaning schedules, including equipment, work surfaces, crockery, and cutlery.

Person Specification

You should have a basic understanding of English and Mathematics and be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and colleagues. A good understanding of customer care and a flexible, team‑focused approach are essential.

Previous catering experience and a Food Safety Certificate are desirable but not essential, as full skills, technical, and mandatory training will be provided.
