Clinical Supervisor - Middle Ground Therapy Service

About Smart Therapy Ltd Smart Therapy is a counselling and psychotherapy centre with two locations in South West London: Battersea Rise and Lavender Hill, SW11, four minutes from Clapham Junction station. As well as private therapy services and professional therapy room hire, we are launching the Middle Ground Therapy Service (MGTS) in September 2026.

MGTS is a structured, professionally supervised counselling service for people who fall between means-tested provision and full-fee private therapy.

About the Role We are recruiting a Clinical Supervisor to provide group supervision to our pilot cohort of four trainee therapists. This is a sessional, self-employed role. Clinical governance, client triage, trainee recruitment, and service oversight are all held by the Programme Lead. The supervisor's focus is entirely clinical.

Supervision takes place in person at our Lavender Hill site: two sessions per month, 1.5 hours each, with one trainee group. The role begins in September 2026, with an expectation of being in place by July 2026 to support onboarding.

Key Responsibilities Facilitate group supervision for trainee therapists (two 1.5-hour sessions per month, in person) Support clinical reflection, formulation, and ethical decision-making Provide guidance on risk management and safeguarding in line with MGTS procedures Maintain brief supervisory records in line with professional standards Liaise with the Programme Lead on any clinical, risk, or safeguarding concerns

Essential Requirements Accredited member of BACP or UKCP, or working towards accreditation Minimum five years post-qualification clinical experience Formal training in clinical supervision, or demonstrable equivalent experience Integrative orientation Professional indemnity insurance covering supervisory activities Works in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework

Desirable Experience of group supervision Experience supervising trainees or early-career therapists Familiarity with reduced-fee, placement-based, or community counselling settings
