Interim Commercial Officer – Defence (12-Month Maternity Cover)

We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Officer to join a high-profile MOD programme on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a critical defence project, supporting post-contract commercial activities within a complex delivery environment.

Location: Manchester (hybrid working options available) Security Clearance: Active SC clearance required Contract Type: Inside IR35 Day Rate: £300–£350 per day (umbrella)

Key Responsibilities: Lead and support post-contract commercial management across a major MOD programme Manage supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations Handle contract variations, change control, and commercial risk mitigation Provide commercial insight and guidance to project and programme stakeholders Support dispute resolution and contract close-out activities as needed

Key Requirements: Proven experience in a Commercial Officer or similar role within defence or government programmes Strong background in post-contract management Prior experience working with the MOD or within defence environments Ideally experience with a private sector prime contractor Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills Active SC clearance is essential

Desirable: Familiarity with defence procurement processes and regulations Experience working in complex, multi-supplier programme environments
