Opportunity We are seeking a 0–1-year PQE associate to join Arnold & Porter’s Corporate team in London, part of our global Corporate & Finance Group. This is an exciting opportunity for an associate who wants more responsibility and a broad range of corporate and commercial work advising some of the world’s leading businesses and institutions.
Our team Our Corporate team in London advises on a full range of corporate matters, including M&A, venture capital transactions, joint ventures, and complex life sciences licences, collaborations and commercial contracts.
The Corporate team works across all major sectors, but with a market-leading specialism in life sciences. Our clients range from the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies to fast-growing biotech companies, to leading technology companies, giving associates exposure to cutting-edge, high-value transactions with high-calibre clients.
We work closely with our colleagues in the US, notably in New York, as well as top-tier regulatory, IP and antitrust practices both in Europe and the US. We are a focussed, collaborative team where each member plays a meaningful role in delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients on sophisticated, high-profile matters.
Key Requirements Driven, ambitious, enthusiastic, 0–1-year PQE associates with excellent academic achievements and a desire to work on a broad range of corporate and commercial transactions. The ideal candidate would have experience (or an interest) in the life sciences sector and be keen to get involved in not only M&A transactions but also collaborations, licensing and other major commercial transactions in the life sciences sector.
We are interested in candidates from top international law firms and US firms, and firms with a strong reputation in life sciences transactions.
Role and Responsibilities The role will include: Taking responsibility for managing aspects of corporate and commercial transactions. Advising on key areas of company law. Drafting key and ancillary transaction documents. Conducting legal and commercial research to support transactions and client advice. Using initiative to provide solutions to our clients. Liaising with lawyers across the firm as well as local counsel across the world. Delegation and supervision where appropriate. Supporting business development activity.
