Creative Executive (Consumer Products & Experiences)
Are you a highly creative operator with a sharp design eye and a love of brands? Do you enjoy shaping physical products from clothing to toys— and making projects happen, end-to-end? We’re looking for a Creative Executive to join the Consumer Products & Experiences creative team within Penguin Ventures, helping bring our iconic stories to life beyond the book through exciting non-book products across multiple categories and territories.
Penguin Ventures is the consumer products and experience team of Penguin Random House Children’s UK. We manage and exploit our portfolio of iconic literary brands and characters: Peter Rabbit, The Snowman, Spot, Flower Fairies and more, across product, experience and digital. We find new ways to tell the world's favourite stories by creating strategic partnerships in licensing, retail, promotions, experiential, theatrical, exhibitions; in location-based experiences; and across the digital landscape. The role This is a fast-paced, hands-on role partnering with brand owners, licensees and agents to develop and approve consumer products, ensuring they meet Penguin Ventures’ creative, legal and regulatory requirements. You’ll own the day-to-day development process and play a key part in keeping projects on track from first concept through to final approval.
Working closely with the Creative Director and the Product Approvals & Development Manager, you’ll help monitor creative development across products, packaging and marketing, with overall ownership of the approvals process via our internal Brand Comply system.
Key responsibilities: Own the product approvals process and manage creative licensing approvals across product, packaging and marketing, using Brand Comply. Apply strong product and packaging knowledge to ensure creative is commercially effective and on-brand. Coordinate submissions and provide clear, constructive feedback to partners and stakeholders. Collaborate with global agents, sales teams, brand teams, licensees and brand estates across multiple categories and territories. Conduct trend research across retail, graphic and cultural influences; bring relevant visual trends into product concepts and design applications. Attend key retail and licensee meetings and relevant trade fairs. Develop and maintain the product catalogue and consumer products visual archive (including product and in-store display photography), with support from the Creative Assistant. Coordinate the sample library and manage distribution of final samples where required, with support from the Creative Assistant. Provide creative and admin support on licensed experiences where needed. What you’ll bring
Essential criteria: Demonstrable experience in licensing and consumer products (ideally character brands). A finely tuned design eye with creative flair and strong visual awareness. Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite and PowerPoint. Experience in 3D product design and/or product manufacturing and a solid understanding of the consumer product manufacturing/design process. Strong project management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and changing schedules. Strong understanding of the market and commercial environment, with a confident, clear communication style.
Desired criteria: Experience using approvals systems (e.g., Brand Comply, Media Box) would be ideal.
Disability Confident As a Disability Confident Committed organisation, we offer interviews to candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria for the role, and opt-in on their application form. The essential criteria for this role are listed as part of the ‘What you’ll bring’ section. There may be times when the volume of applications means we cannot take all eligible candidates to interview. We encourage you to tell us about any reasonable adjustments you may need by emailing PRHCareersUK@penguinrandomhouse.co.uk. Remember, you only need to share what you are comfortable with, for us to support your request. Application instructions Please apply with your CV and cover letter outlining why you are the right candidate for the role by 11:59pm on 28th April 2026.
As part of your cover letter, please answer this question in no more than 300 words: Peter Rabbit is one of our best loved and most successful brands – what do you think is one of the most exciting things we’ve done with this brand in the licensing and consumer products space?
