Job Summary To deliver Girvan Youth Trust’s StreetLights Project through an innovative use of detached youth work, work in schools and through partnership working with appropriate agencies. Also, to build positive, professional relationships with local young people deemed as harder to reach/at risk of intervention in order to allow them access to youth work, in a non-traditional sense the same way their peers do.

Duties and Responsibilities To provide harder to reach and at risk local young people with the opportunity to engage with youth work in a positive and meaningful way through engaging with them in their territory. Deliver and support the development and delivery of diversionary programmes to provide young people with alternative activities at peak anti-social behaviour hours Where required, deliver school based intervention programmes to secondary school pupils and pupils during their transition phase To work collaboratively with GYT staff, volunteers, parents and strategic statutory partners to share good practice and equal opportunities. To identify young people’s social and developmental needs and involve them in the development and evaluation of the project. To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as identified through the development of StreetLights DYW Project and/or Girvan Youth Trust. Ensure that all working policies adhere to the Girvan Youth Trust policies e.g. Confidentiality policy, Equal Opportunities policy etc. Participate in team reviews, meetings and development sessions To undertake mandatory Girvan Youth Trust Youth Worker Training (unless already hold a certificate); Child Protection Awareness, Ready for Youth Work and Outdoor First Aid.

Additional Post Conditions Evening and weekend work is a requirement of this position. Due to the nature of this position it is only applicable to candidates aged 18 years and over. There is scope with this post to access additional hours through the wider Girvan Youth Trust Youth Work Programme.
