Chingford Forest Day Nursery and Preschool is looking for a Nursery Apprentice to provide high-quality childcare while working towards a recognised qualification.

Responsibilities
- Provide the highest standard of care and education.
- Gain hands-on experience in a high-quality childcare setting.
- Work towards recognised childcare qualifications.
- Identify and meet each child’s individual needs.
- Supervise and support children throughout the day.
- Engage in a variety of interactive activities such as reading stories, helping at mealtimes, playing games, and changing nappies.
- Act as a positive and practical role model.
- Build friendly and professional relationships with staff and parents.
- Ensure full understanding and adherence to safeguarding procedures.
- Support babies and young children through transitions and significant events (e.g., moving onto school, moving house, birth of a sibling).
- Recognise when a child is in danger, at risk of serious harm or abuse and explain procedures to protect them.
- Identify risks and hazards and follow reporting procedures.
- Use prevention and control of infection techniques.
- Deal with spillages safely and dispose of waste correctly.
- Use equipment, furniture, and materials safely and securely.
- Encourage children to be aware of personal safety and develop personal hygiene practices.
- Promote health and wellbeing by encouraging healthy eating and physical activity.
- Carry out respectful care routines, including feeding, nappy changing, potty/toilet training, and rest/sleep provision.
- Communicate effectively with all children, including those with English as an additional language or additional needs.
- Extend children’s development and learning through verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Encourage babies and young children to use a range of communication methods.
- Use appropriate communication methods to share information with children, parents/carers, and other professionals.
- Work with colleagues to plan educational programmes supporting holistic development.
- Implement and review activities supporting play, creativity, social development, and learning.
- Observe children, assess, plan, and record outcomes accurately and confidentially.
- Use learning activities to support early language development.
- Support children’s interest and development in mark making, writing, reading, and mathematical learning.
- Support the graduated approach for assessing, planning, implementing, and reviewing individual child plans.
- Work in ways that value and respect developmental needs and stages.
- Use feedback and mentoring for development, goals, and career opportunities.
- Work co-operatively with colleagues, other professionals, and agencies.
- Work alongside parents or carers and recognise their role in the child's development.
- Encourage parents or carers to take an active role in the child's care, play, learning, and development.
- Demonstrate how to share information with parents/carers about healthy diets, dental care, and physical activity.
