General Banking/ Finance Lawyer, Leading Bank

The Client

A leading banking group is seeking a 2-5PQE* general finance lawyer with expertise in trade finance lawyer to join its London based team. This role is ideal for a legal professional looking to broaden their expertise beyond one area of financing and gain exposure to a diverse range of legal matters.

The Role You will provide expert advice on a range of finance and non-finance matters, supporting the bank’s lending activities across multiple jurisdictions. This is a fantastic opportunity to report into the executive committee and engage with senior stakeholders across the business and play a strategic role in the bank’s growth.

Key Responsibilities Advising on finance transactions including project financing, trade and receivables financing, supply contract reviews, ISDAs, GMRAs and NDAs. Advising on commercial law, corporate governance etc. Managing legal risk and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations Drafting, reviewing and negotiating bank standard form loan agreements, security documents, and related financing instruments and reviewing the underlying due diligence reports. Collaborating closely with the treasury, business, credit, risk, and product teams to support business objectives Horizon scanning to monitor and assess legal and regulatory developments Managing relationships with external counsel when required

The Successful candidate Qualified solicitor (UK or equivalent) with 2-5 years'* PQE Background in a leading law firm or in-house at a financial institution Commercially minded with excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills Must be willing to learn and adapt to working in the specific areas outlined above and any other lending products or areas the bank expands into. A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment *Please note that candidates with the relevant experience outside of the above mentioned PQE level would be considered for this position
