The Role

We are looking for a Group Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Edinburgh! This is an excellent opportunity if you are making your first move from practice into industry, or perhaps you are an early career accountant looking for the chance to broaden your technical and commercial experience. The Team

As part of the Accounting team, you will work closely with the other Finance functions, Head of Financial reporting and other senior Finance leaders, building a strong understanding of how our team supports decision making across the business. But you won’t stop there – the nature of this role ensures you will have the opportunity to interact with colleagues across all areas of InterGen and our sister companies too.

What You’ll Be Doing

As one of our Group Financial Accountants, you’ll be responsible for assisting in and delivering key accounting initiatives. You’ll identify, communicate and manage these processes ensuring that our objectives are met efficiently. You will be heavily involved in preparing monthly and annual financial reports, supporting the design, implementation and monitoring of internal controls as well as contributing to the external audit process. You will also play a key role in other initiatives and projects relevant to financial reporting, including control and contract reviews, our current ERP upgrade project and implementation of new accounting standards.

Experience

We’re looking for a qualified or nearly qualified Chartered Accountant who knows the key parts of the financial reporting cycle, either as an auditor or working in a finance team. You will be confident in solving accounting issues and understand the importance of control activities. Additional experience within the Energy sector and proficiency in Power BI would be useful but not essential.
