An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling Psychologist) to join the Paediatric Haemoglobin Disorders Psychology Service on a 0.5 WTE fixedterm basis.

You will work as part of a friendly and highly specialist service supporting children, young people and families affected by haemoglobin disorders such as sickle cell disease and thalassaemia, within a culturally diverse population.

The post offers excellent clinical and professional supervision, close MDT working, and opportunities to gain experience across assessment, intervention, consultation, transition work and service development, making it an ideal developmental Band 7 post.

Main duties of the job

To provide a specialist psychological service for children and young people with haemoglobin disorders, including work with parents, carers and families To undertake psychological assessment, formulation and evidencebased intervention, working autonomously within agreed professional and service frameworks To work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary paediatric team, contributing to holistic care planning To deliver a range of interventions, including individual therapy, parent work, group work, psychoeducation and transitionrelated interventions To contribute to risk assessment and management, safeguarding, and clinical governance processes To engage in outcome monitoring, audit and service development To provide consultation and advice to colleagues and, where appropriate, contribute to the supervision and training of other staff and trainees To maintain accurate clinical records and meet Trust and professional standards

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be a HCPCregistered Practitioner Psychologist working within the Paediatric Haemoglobin Disorders Psychology Service and the wider Clinical Health Psychology Service.

They will provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for children and young people with haemoglobin disorders, working closely with families, carers and the multidisciplinary team. The role involves delivering evidencebased interventions across inpatient and outpatient settings, including individual work, parent work, group interventions and transitionrelated support.

The post holder will contribute to multidisciplinary care, consultation and liaison with health, social care, education and thirdsector professionals, supporting holistic and culturally responsive care.

They will receive regular clinical and professional supervision, participate in CPD, and contribute to audit, outcome monitoring and service development. The role also involves maintaining accurate clinical records, contributing to safeguarding and risk management, and working in line with Trust policies and professional standards.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, CEME)

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).
