The Client We are partnering with a high-growth, AI-native fintech backed by some of Europe's most celebrated technology investors, built by a team with a track record of creating multi-billion pound businesses in banking and payments. FCA-regulated as an e-money institution. Their early performance has been exceptional and the team is growing fast.

The Role This is the first dedicated Head of Finance hire, reporting directly to the founders. The current finance function is largely outsourced; this person's mandate is to insource it, automate it, and own it. The expectation is not to build a large team but to leverage AI tooling intelligently. Beyond the operational build, this person will be a genuine commercial partner to the founders: owning FP&A, driving strategic financial planning, and playing a central role in future capital raising activity as the business scales.

Key Responsibilities Own all financial management: management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and statutory reporting. Build and own the FP&A function: financial modelling, scenario planning, and commercial decision support for the founders. Implement AI-driven systems and workflows to insource finance operations and significantly reduce reliance on external accountants. Manage supplier payments, payroll oversight, expense reporting, and financial risk. Provide regular financial and regulatory reporting to the Board.

Essential Experience Qualified accountant, ideally from a top 10 practice background (BDO, Grant Thornton level or above). Senior finance experience within an FCA-regulated payments, e-money, or fintech business. Active and demonstrable use of AI tooling to automate finance workflows — this is not a nice-to-have. A track record of insourcing finance functions and building processes from scratch. Working knowledge of FCA safeguarding requirements. Genuine builder mentality: you want to create, automate, and push the envelope on what finance can be.

Desirable Experience Experience at a high-profile challenger fintech. Prior 0-to-1 or early-stage startup environment.

Package Salary: £120,000 – £150,000 + attractive equity Location: Central London Start Date: ASAP
