Welcome from the Principal:
Thank you for your interest in the vacancy at Outwood Academy Ormesby in Middlesbrough.
As Principal, I'm extremely proud of our academy, where everyone is driven to help young people thrive and meet their full potential in one of the most deprived areas in the country. We are committed to the value that ‘every interaction counts’ and work relentlessly to transform students' lives and develop positive community relationships.
We seek colleagues who value a commitment to enriching student lives, collaboration, a growth mindset, and a relentless drive to ‘turn our best into our normal’.
As part of the Outwood Family, committed to transforming lives and raising standards, we would be delighted to welcome you to our team if you share our passion for improving the lives of young people and our wider community.

About the Department:
The Ormesby Humanities Department is a welcoming and sociable department of staff including both Geographers and Historians who are all extremely passionate about their subject specialisms. Our department is well respected within the Academy and is located centrally, with all classrooms close together. All classrooms are resourced with interactive whiteboards, visualisers and ample storage which will enable you to teach in a variety of ways. In addition to this we share a small workroom with several computers, fridge, kettle and nearly always a selection of snacks! And if snacks and a fridge aren’t what you are looking for, we also have a range of teaching and learning books to support professional development, as well as a selection of subject books and subscriptions to professional organisations.
Wellbeing and management of workload is a priority for the department and we work collaboratively whenever possible and often share resources and planning. We all want the best for our students and by sharing expertise and best practices we believe we can achieve this. We support each other whenever we can which includes support with planning, marking and sometimes even teaching. As a team we share the view that whilst our job is often challenging, we do it because it is hard and because of the positive impact we have on our amazing students day in, day out.
In Humanities there is also a dedicated team of School Standards and Improvement Partners who invest in staff with support, coaching, mentoring, and a wide range of top-quality subject specific training programmes to ensure that quality teaching and learning leads to outstanding outcomes for all students.
We look forward to welcoming applications from candidates who will help us in achieving the best possible outcomes through leading the subject of History for our amazing students.
