The Housing Executive is now recruiting for a Head of Legal & Information Governance to join their team.

Directorate: Corporate Services Grade: Assistant Director Reports to: Director of Corporate Services Location: Adelaide Street, Belfast

Job Purpose

In this role you will lead the Legal & Information Governance function, proactively identifying and mitigating legal risks, providing strategic advice and ensuring compliance with a range of legal frameworks.

You will also work collaboratively within the Housing Executive and with our sponsor department, external stakeholders and partners, to inform and influence the direction of legislation and strategic policy across its range of statutory functions.

Essential Criteria

1.Be a solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland qualified to practice in Northern Ireland with at least 5 years relevant post qualification experience

2.Demonstrate at least 3 years’ senior management experience of: Providing specialist legal advice and guidance on strategic and complex legal matters Leading/influencing others to ensure the successful and timely completion of a demanding caseload Proactively identifying significant legal risks and advising on mitigation and risk management

3.Demonstrate experience providing specialist legal advice and guidance in support of organisation objectives, in at least two of the following areas: Housing Administrative/Public Law Contract Law Law of Property and Conveyancing Employment Law Civil Litigation Information and Data Protection Public Procurement

4.Can demonstrate a comprehensive and current understanding of key areas of legislation relevant to the role and the ability to develop expertise in new areas of law

5.Candidates will be assessed against the competencies in the Senior Leader section of the Housing Executive Competency Framework throughout the recruitment and selection process. 6.Possess a full, current UK driving licence or have access to a form of transport which enables them to fulfil the full requirements of the job.

Desirable Criteria 1.Leading a team in the delivery of a specialist legal function in support of organisational objectives.

2.Demonstrate experience providing specialist legal advice and guidance in Housing and Homelessness
