Role Overview Head of Legal & Compliance to lead the organisation’s legal and compliance function and ensure the highest standards of regulatory governance across the business.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for shaping legal strategy, strengthening compliance frameworks, and partnering closely with the Executive Team and Board to support sustainable growth. The role will act as the central legal authority within the business, providing commercially focused advice and managing a panel of external law firms that represent the business across a range of specialist matters.

Key Responsibilities Act as the primary legal advisor to the business, providing clear, pragmatic and commercially focused guidance across all areas of operation. Own and develop the company’s compliance framework, ensuring alignment with applicable laws, regulations and industry standards. Advise the Executive Team and Board on legal risk, corporate governance matters and emerging regulatory developments. Oversee the drafting, negotiation and review of contracts across all departments, coordinating with external counsel where appropriate. Manage data protection, privacy and broader risk management policies and processes. Develop and deliver legal and compliance training and awareness initiatives across the organisation. Lead and manage relationships with a panel of external law firms, ensuring high-quality advice, effective cost control and consistency of approach. Act as the key point of contact with regulators and external advisors, as required.

About You Qualified solicitor or barrister Significant post-qualification experience (PQE) gained in a relevant sector or a comparable in-house role. Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks, with the ability to interpret and apply them in a commercial context. Demonstrated ability to balance legal risk with business objectives and operational delivery. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing at Executive and Board level. Proven experience managing and coordinating external legal advisors and professional services firms. High integrity, sound judgement and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
