Overview of the Role: We are looking to recruit an experienced Heritage Collections Manager to lead a small, friendly specialist team that cares for our Designated Collections (Arts Council Designation Scheme). The RHS holds collections of rare books, artworks, photography, archives, ephemera and artefacts that span over 500 years of gardening history. This role is responsible for ensuring that these unique collections are cared for and accessible. This is an exciting time to join RHS Libraries, as we work on plans for redevelopment of the RHS Lindley Library in London, where the heritage collections are housed.
We are looking for: An experienced heritage professional with a background in managing significant collections in a museum, archive or specialist library environment. Experience of managing collection relocations and working on collection storage build and/or refurbishment projects. Strong project management skills and an ability to co-ordinate multiple strands of work Ability to manage and motivate a small team (both staff and volunteers) Good communication skills and the ability to act as an advocate for collection care with a variety of stakeholders and colleagues from different backgrounds.
