About The Role
Highways Maintenance Operative
📍 Lincolnshire – Sleaford, Horncastle
Balfour Beatty has a fantastic opportunity for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our team on the Lincolnshire Term Maintenance Contract.
This is a hands-on, outdoor role supporting day-to-day maintenance, emergency response and winter service across Lincolnshire’s highway network. If you’re reliable, flexible and happy to put the hours in, we want to hear from you.
Working pattern
Monday to Friday Hours: 7:30am – 4:30pm Overtime available Emergency works rota: 1 in 4 weeks Winter maintenance rota (October–April): 1 in 2 weeks
What you'll be doing
Carrying out a wide range of highways maintenance works including reactive, cyclical and emergency repairs Making sites safe and completing permanent and temporary fixes Supporting emergency response and winter service operations Working outdoors in all conditions as part of a close‑knit operational team Using plant, tools and materials efficiently and safely Completing works via handheld devices and to required quality standards Always working in line with Balfour Beatty’s Zero Harm safety culture
Who we're looking for
Experience working outdoors – highways experience preferred Streetworks (NRSWA) – preferable Full UK driving licence – essential The right attitude – flexible, reliable and willing to work additional hours A strong safety mindset and team-focused approach
Training & Development
HGV training will be provided for candidates who don’t already hold the qualification Opportunity to gain further highways and safety-related experience and tickets
