Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Grade 5 point 12-16

32 hours per week, Term time only £22,331- £25,072 pro-rata

Monday – 8.35pm- 3.25 pm. 30 minutes unpaid lunch break.

Christ Church Federation in Tettenhall are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to provide cover and support across our federation but primarily based at the Infant School.

We are now looking for a passionate and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team, primarily providing cover on the Infant site with some occasional cover on the Junior site.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver pre‑planned learning activities and confidently cover whole classes in EYFS and Key Stage 1, following teacher guidance, school policies and statutory requirements, with flexibility to work in Key Stage 2 when required. Implement lesson plans effectively, adapting delivery to meet pupils’ needs through differentiation, support strategies and positive behaviour management, ensuring an inclusive and purposeful learning environment. Monitor and assess pupil engagement and progress during lessons, providing accurate feedback to teachers to support assessment and next steps in learning. Undertake marking of pupils’ work arising from lessons and interventions delivered, in line with school marking and feedback policies, within an agreed and reasonable amount of time allocated for this purpose. Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider staff team to ensure continuity of learning, maintain classroom routines, and respond flexibly to the operational needs of the school as directed by senior leaders.

About You:

You are a confident and adaptable HLTA with experience delivering pre‑planned lessons, able to engage pupils positively, manage behaviour effectively, and maintain a calm, purposeful learning environment. You are a reliable and flexible team member who works well under direction, communicates clearly with teachers, and responds positively to the changing needs of the school across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and, where required, Key Stage 2. You are an experienced and confident HLTA with an understanding of early reading and phonics, ideally including experience of delivering and leading Read Write Inc.
