Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Havering for a qualified Independent Mental Capacity Advocate. The role involves providing advocacy services to individuals who lack the capacity to make specific decisions, ensuring their rights and preferences are represented. Day-to-day tasks include consulting with individuals, understanding and voicing their wishes, delivering an impartial service in line with the Mental Capacity Act, and maintaining comprehensive case records. You will be required to liaise with health and social care professionals, attend relevant decision-making meetings, and ensure that clients’ rights are respected and upheld at all times.

Qualifications Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and its application in advocacy work Proficient in research, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively represent individuals’ preferences and rights Experience in supporting individuals with mental health challenges or those who lack capacity Excellent administrative and organisational skills, including maintaining accurate and detailed case records Ability to work effectively and professionally with multi-disciplinary teams, care providers, and clients Experience meeting deadlines and managing caseloads efficiently Understanding and commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding practices Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to promoting individuals’ rights and independence
