Historic Newspapers (historic-newspapers.com) specializes in bespoke, personalized books created from their private archive of over 2 million original newspapers. Since June 2025, both Historic Newspapers and its parent company, Wonderbly, have been owned by Penguin Random House. With HQ Office in London as well as Offices in SW Scotland, ‘HN’ looks to connect people with their passions through the books they produce. Over the last 12 months, Historic-Newspapers has undergone transformational change with the launch of an entirely new look and feel to the brand, coupled with a re-platforming of our website to Shopify. This exciting project has yielded incredible results, with 300% YoY growth to the business. Reporting to the Creative Director, the primary function of the role is to support the Creative team in producing clear, engaging and accurate written content across a range of products and marketing channels. The role will focus on writing and editing content for newspaper books, including content pages and supporting editorial copy, as well as assisting with marketing campaigns and day to day content needs. You will work closely with the Senior Copywriter, designers and researchers to ensure all written output is on brand, consistent in tone and aligned with key messaging. This role is temporary for 12 months initially. The role can be home based with some ability to travel into the London office desirable. Responsibilities: Writing and editing content for personalised newspaper books Creating contents pages and supporting editorial copy Assisting with marketing campaign copy across email and digital channels Supporting the Senior Copywriter on larger creative and campaign projects Proofreading and checking content for accuracy and consistency Adapting tone of voice across different products and audiences Working collaboratively with designers and researchers Managing multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently Strong writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail Good grasp of grammar, spelling and tone of voice Ability to write clearly and concisely for different audiences Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks Proactive and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment Good communication and teamwork skills Basic understanding of marketing or editorial writing is desirable An interest in history and sports, specifically US sports an advantage £70,000 - £75,000k per annum dependent on experience 25 days a year holiday allowance (excluding public holidays) Real mental health support with Spill Free breakfast and a fully stocked fridge in our London office 5% pension contribution, with no cap on yours Regular social events - theatre trips, beautiful sit down meals, Sports day, just to name a few Quarterly all hands (with exceptional food, great company and a chance to reflect and plan). £500 per year learning and development budget Free books - and a lot of them!
