The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Development Lead – Embedded Systems to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering embedded software products for the rail industry. Acting as the voice of the customer, you’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, external clients, and development teams to ensure our products meet customer needs and align with wider business strategy.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role, combining technical expertise, product ownership, and stakeholder collaboration.
What you will do
- Act as the primary voice of the client, working collaboratively with software development teams to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Own the product roadmap, creating, maintaining and clearly communicating it to relevant stakeholders.
- Work closely with internal and external customers to analyse requirements and align product direction with strategic goals.
- Operate in an agile environment, developing scope and defining backlog items that guide the development team.
- Analyse value, develop business cases, and prioritise epics, stories and themes to maximise value and alignment with product strategy.
- Solve product-related problems, making informed decisions and trade‑off analyses to stay on track against business commitments.
- Develop and maintain a well‑prioritised backlog of user stories for implementation.
- Draft and apply data‑driven product strategies to support business decision‑making.
- Produce clear, appropriately detailed specifications to ensure development teams fully understand product features.
- Collaborate with stakeholders during product visioning and concept development.
- Represent the development team in front of stakeholders, clients and users.
- Act as an internal and external ambassador for its products, serving as the primary point of contact for product‑related queries.
- Work closely with senior management to ensure products fit effectively within the wider company portfolio.
- Build strong collaborative relationships across all stakeholders.
