Job Type: Permanent Build a brilliant future with Hiscox Position: Lead Solution Architect, London Market Reporting to: Head of Architecture Location: York/London Business Unit: London Market The Role The Lead Solution Architect is responsible for designing and delivering practical, scalable, and secure technology solutions that meet business needs within the London Market. This role bridges the gap between business requirements and technical implementation, ensuring solutions are aligned with architectural principles and Group Technology standards. You will work closely with development squads, product owners, and technical leads to translate architectural blueprints into actionable designs, supporting delivery teams throughout the lifecycle. The role requires strong technical expertise, collaboration skills, and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities Solution Design & Delivery Translate architectural blueprints and roadmaps into detailed solution designs. Ensure solutions are fit for purpose, scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards. Support integration with existing systems and processes, minimising disruption and technical debt. Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and guidance. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with product owners, developers, and business analysts to understand requirements and constraints. Act as a trusted advisor to delivery teams, helping navigate technical challenges and dependencies. Liaise with Group Technology and vendors to ensure solutions meet compliance and interoperability standards. Governance & Quality Assurance Ensure adherence to architectural principles and governance frameworks. Document solution designs clearly for technical and non-technical audiences. Support risk identification and mitigation during solution delivery. Essential Experience Proven experience in solution architecture within insurance or financial services. Strong understanding of application design, integration patterns, and cloud technologies. Ability to balance technical innovation with practical delivery constraints. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Desirable Experience Familiarity with London Market processes and Lloyd’s market systems. Experience with API-driven architectures and microservices. Knowledge of security and regulatory requirements in financial services.
