Network Engineer
Role: Senior Network Engineer Location: Warrington Salary: £60,000-£64,000 & Benefits Work Pattern: Hybrid
The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting and enhancing this company’s overall network infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure communication systems across all operational areas. In this role you’ll help maintain business continuity by proactively monitoring infrastructure performance, resolving technical issues, and contributing to the ongoing development of scalable and secure network solutions.
Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, maintain, and support the organisation’s LAN, WAN, wireless, VOIP, and communication systems, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing network infrastructure across all operational areas. Configure, manage, and troubleshoot network hardware and systems including routers, switches, servers, telephony equipment, UPS devices, printers, audio-visual technologies, and associated peripherals. Monitor network performance, analyse system issues, and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, and operational faults in a timely and efficient manner while supporting business continuity. Administer core server environments including backup, email, database, print, recovery, and security systems, ensuring appropriate maintenance, auditing, and disaster recovery procedures are in place. Collaborate with internal departments to assess current and future infrastructure requirements, support capacity planning, and contribute to scalable network improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate technical documentation including network configurations, infrastructure diagrams, operational procedures, inventories, and service records. Support the development and enforcement of network administration, cybersecurity, system usage, and disaster recovery policies, while assisting with the implementation of security best practices and solutions. Coordinate infrastructure upgrades and liaise with vendors, contractors, and third-party providers to support operational and technical requirements. Research emerging technologies, industry trends, and networking solutions to support continuous improvement and operational efficiency. Produce network performance reports and provide technical guidance and end-user support to ensure systems remain accessible, effective, and user-friendly.

Key Skills: Proven expertise in network design, implementation, and support across LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN environments. Strong understanding of network security principles, infrastructure management, and capacity planning. Experience supporting VOIP and communication systems. Advanced troubleshooting skills across network and hardware environments. Knowledge of testing tools and procedures for voice and data communications. Familiarity with data protection standards and information security practices. Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with the confidence to explain technical information clearly to users. The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. A proactive and customer-focused approach with strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
