Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a nurse to join the well established Epilepsy service as a band 6 nurse specialist. The post is one year, fixed-term to cover Maternity leave.
This is an opportunity for a nurse with a good knowledge of epilepsy to join the Specialist Epilepsy Service working closely with the neurological consultants and multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be involved in the care of patients managed with medication and also those undergoing neurosurgical treatments.
The post holder will be a key point of contact for patients with epilepsy requiring advice and support between appointments, providing clinical reviews both virtually and face to face in an Outpatient environment. They will provide education to our nursing teams within Wessex neurological centre.
As a regional centre, the role will require joint working with the Consultants at UHS and liaising with health care professionals and community services across the region.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register Degree qualification or equivalent 120 credits at L6 Post registration qualification within area of speciality or equivalent experience Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies Extensive post registration experience within specialist area.
Desirable criteria
Registered on MSc Pathway – completion of HTPA Competencies Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed Counselling qualification Palliative care course IT training
