As an OR Service Assistant I, you will assist in transporting patients and preparing the Operating Room by setting up instruments, supplies, and specialized equipment. You will maintain and operate OR equipment as needed and provide limited support to surgeons during procedures, including holding limbs or retractors, suctioning, and sponging wounds. This role ensures a safe, organized, and sterile environment, contributing to the efficiency of surgical operations and positive patient outcomes. A caregiver in this role works days from 5:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. with Saturday requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Assist in transporting patients and setting up the OR. Maintain and operate surgical instrument sets and special equipment in the OR. Maintain storage areas in the OR. Coordinate equipment and supplies for service specific surgical cases. Monitor and track the loaning/lending of supplies and equipment. Ensure proper sterile conditions and clean used instruments after surgery. Order supplies, stock, run labs and transport blood and materials. Assist in transporting patients and room turnover. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High school diploma or GED Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Sterile processing certification Two years of experience in sterile processing Experience was an anesthesia technician Experience in a procedural area Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing up to 200 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions of working irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
