Patient Pathway Administrator – Oncology & Haematology
We are seeking a motivated and detail‑focused Patient Pathway Administrator to join our Oncology and Haematology team and play a vital role in supporting high‑quality patient care.
In this busy and rewarding position, you will provide a comprehensive administrative service, working closely with the administration team, reception and booking teams, consultants and clinicians. You will help ensure patient pathways run smoothly and efficiently, supporting timely access to care.
Working collaboratively with clerical colleagues, you will act as a central point of communication for patients and staff, responding to queries, coordinating information and helping to deliver a positive patient experience at every stage of their journey.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly organised and professional Medical Administrator to join our team and play a key role in supporting consultants, multidisciplinary teams and patients.
In this varied and fast‑paced role, you will provide a comprehensive medical administrative service, including typing clinic letters, managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, scanning and uploading documentation to electronic patient records, and responding to telephone and email enquiries. Your work will be central to ensuring patient information is accurate, up to date and accessible, helping to support safe and timely patient care.
You will work closely with internal departments and colleagues, liaising effectively to maintain high standards of service delivery, while contributing positively as part of a supportive and collaborative team environment.
The ideal candidate will be confident using IT systems, adaptable to evolving digital ways of working, and comfortable using a digital dictation system to produce clinic letters (a typing speed of 45 wpm or above is desirable). A good standard of written and spoken English is essential, along with flexibility to meet the changing needs of the department and ensure service continuity in liaison with the senior secretary.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Able to work on own initiative.Provide a complete medical administrative service – typing clinic letters, dealing with incoming and outgoing correspondence, scanning documents to patient records, answering queries from consultants, internal departments and patients over the phone and by email. To scan and upload clinical information as directed to ensure patients’ electronic medical records are kept as up to date as possible. Liaising with the multidisciplinary team to provide a quality service for the patients. Working as part of a team to deliver safe patient care. To make best use of information technology and to be proactive and flexible with the changing technology as this becomes available. Typing clinic letters using the digital dictation system. A minimum of 45 wpm typing speed is desirable for this part of the role. A good standard of written and spoken English is essential for this role. To be flexible to the needs of the department, to ensure cover and smooth running of the department as a whole in liaison with the Patient Pathway manager. To maintain a tidy office/working environment.

Educated to GCSE, O-Level or equivalent.

Demonstratable typing experience through qualification or experience
Knowledge

Demonstrable experience and knowledge of office and administrative processes.

Understanding of RTT and patient pathway. Understanding of Healthcare process
