About the role: Performing Arts teacher

We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher in Performing Arts to join the Createch Faculty at Oxford College on a maternity cover basis. The Performing Arts department at Oxford College offers pathways in Acting for Stage and Screen, Dance and Musical Theatre. This post provides an excellent opportunity for a teacher with passion and drive who is committed to enabling our students to unlock their potential and switch on to the power of learning. Knowledge of UAL specifications is desirable but not essential. The post holder will be required to have a range of abilities within Performing Arts.

The post holder will act as a personal tutor and Study Programme Owner (SPO), with responsibility for the Level 3 Dance cohort. This will include providing pastoral support, monitoring attendance, progress and wellbeing, and supporting students to achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally. The role will involve teaching across the Performing Arts department, delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that support students in developing performance, rehearsal and creative skills. The post holder will also choreograph and direct student performances, supporting learners through the creative process from rehearsal to final production, and contribute to enrichment activities, showcases, live performances and cross-department productions to enhance the overall student experience and progression opportunities within the creative industries.

This is a fixed-term, part-time role working 26 hours per week (FTE 0.70) based at our Oxford College Campus. This contract ends in May 2027.

What do you need to be successful as a Performing Arts teacher at Activate Learning?

Successful candidates will have an appropriate professional qualification and/or a degree, recent teaching experience and the ability to deliver a programme that includes dance, acting, and musical theatre. We would consider applications from unqualified applicants, with the ability to inspire our learners and a willingness to complete a teaching qualification. In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
