Job Overview

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is offering an exciting opportunity for passionate, motivated, and forward‑thinking pharmacists to advance their clinical skills and deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care within primary care.

This post provides a structured development pathway, including completion of the Post‑registration Foundation Pharmacist qualification, based within a GP practice environment. This post is suitable for pharmacists who have qualified within the last two years and have achieved an Independent Prescribing (IP) qualification.

A formal training post with protected learning time and a comprehensive in‑house development programme. Dedicated support from an experienced specialist pharmacist mentor within the practice. Wider educational, clinical, and pastoral support from the Primary and Community Care Academy team. Excellent peer support through established primary care and community pharmacy networks.

We welcome applications from Foundation Trainee Pharmacists who will register with the General Pharmaceutical Council in August 2026.

Main duties of the job

To provide medicines management support within a GP practices (base practice tbc) and to undertake the Post-Registration Foundation qualification with HEIW

To a work as a core member of the team within the GP practice, working effectively with other health and social care professionals delivering services to patients.

To improve the quality and effectiveness of medicines management across a range of settings.

To provide patient focussed, prudent healthcare.

To promote medicines safety.

To supervise pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants and less experienced pharmacists, foundation trainee pharmacists and students.

You will have the opportunity to gain exposure across the wider Primary Care Pharmacy Team, which may include time with:

Nursing Home and Complex Care Team Community Resource Team Medicines Management Team Clinical Effectiveness and Formulary Team Medicines Governance Team Antimicrobial Team Prison Pharmacy Team

This post is fixed term/secondment for 18 months due to funding.
