Job Overview
The Radiology department in the The Royal Gwent hospital is seeking to recruit a Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographer to join the team in the X-ray department.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who will undertake a full range of diagnostic radiographs for both in-patients and out-patients.
Following an appropriate induction period, participation in the out of hours shift system will be expected along with rotation to our satellite department, St Woolos in Newport. Rotation to any other X-ray departments within the Health Board may also be required.
We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about Radiology and have the desire to produce good quality images and deliver high quality care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
To perform radiographic examinations.
To help provide a high quality and efficient radiographic service to all patients.
Manual handling of patients and equipment will be necessary with the appropriate training.
To be familiar with the RIS and PACS system of software and clinical workstation as required.
To know the work procedures and practices of the radiology department.
To observe a personal duty of care when operating equipment.
To undertake any surveys or audits pertaining to the job.
To participate in an out of hours services as required.
To ensure the equipment is well cared for and report any breakdowns, faults or problems to your line manager or take the appropriate action in their absence.
To have and maintain an adequate knowledge of the current radiographic techniques carried out and the equipment in the departmental areas where you are normally required to work.
