Learn more at shn.ca Job Description: Position Overview: Reporting to Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered environment. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for personal care, vital signs, physical assessment, administration of medications, monitoring IV's, monitoring telemetry, setting up medical equipment as appropriate and other duties as assigned. You will participate in continuous education opportunities and workshops to help further your education. You will bring your passion for cardiac nursing to the department while advocating for patients and their families. What You’ll Love About SHN: New to Cardiology Nursing? Our ongoing commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion Requirements: Here’s What You’ll Need: Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in good standing Current BCLS Current ACLS or willingness to participate in the in house ACLS course Coronary Care 1 course from a recognized institution, or agreement to complete the course within 6 months of hire Successfully complete in-house arrhythmia quiz during orientation or within 6 weeks of completion of the Coronary Care 1 course (if course is not completed prior to start date) Current experience in Acute Medical or Cardiovascular Nursing with Telemetry experience or recent clinical placement Proven competent IV initiation skill and post-procedure monitoring/ assessment Demonstrates initiative and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast-paced environment Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community Ability to perform the essential duties of the position Excellent work performance and attendance Asset: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Ability to speak another language This posting serves as a Talent Pool for future vacancies.
