The role Many consulting projects lose momentum exactly when the work becomes most difficult. When a team is deep in the details of pricing architecture or capital allocation, the process of managing the work often becomes an afterthought. This leads to vague status updates and a lack of clarity on what is actually being finished. We are looking for a Scrum Master Intern to stop this from happening. Under the guidance of our project leads, you will help maintain the structural discipline that allows our consultants to stay focused on solving problems for our clients. This is not a role for someone who just wants to check boxes or monitor a calendar. It is a role for someone who understands that a clear process is the only way to keep a complex project from stalling. You will assist in organizing our workflows, facilitating brief check-ins, and making sure that the project board accurately reflects the state of the work. Your objective is to make obstacles visible so they can be removed before they impact our delivery timelines.

About Blue Oak Blue Oak Consulting provides commercial advice for situations where the answer is not obvious. We help leadership teams look past the surface of their strategy and understand the actual economics of their business. We are skeptical by nature and we ignore corporate jargon in favor of data and logic. Our work focuses on identifying where value is leaking or where capital is trapped, whether that is in SaaS unit economics or manufacturing capacity. We operate as a fully remote firm, which requires us to be exceptionally disciplined in how we communicate and how we manage our time. We do not just provide slide decks: we help companies make decisions that hold up under pressure.

What we need from you A basic understanding of project management principles and an interest in the Scrum framework. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely without using unnecessary management buzzwords. A logical mindset that can identify when a project plan does not align with the actual work being done. Organization skills that allow you to track multiple moving parts without losing the details. The confidence to ask questions when you see a task that has been stalled for too long. A high level of comfort with digital collaboration tools and remote work environments. The ability to take meeting notes that focus on decisions and action items rather than just transcribing dialogue.

What the role offers Hands-on experience in how project management is applied within a high-stakes consulting environment. A fully remote work schedule that focuses on the quality of your output rather than the hours you are visible online. Direct exposure to the economic logic and strategic thinking we use to advise some of the most complex businesses. The opportunity to learn how to facilitate meetings and manage workflows in a team that values directness and truth. Mentorship from experienced consultants who value professional growth and clear thinking. A working environment that is free from traditional corporate bureaucracy and office politics.

Who tends to do well here The people who succeed at Blue Oak are those who have a natural inclination toward clarity. You will do well here if you are the person who notices when a plan is becoming too abstract and tries to bring it back to concrete steps. We value interns who do not wait to be told exactly what to do but instead look for ways to make the team more efficient. Success in this role means that because of your involvement, the rest of the team never has to wonder where a project stands or what the next priority is. We are looking for someone who is organized, skeptical of complexity, and committed to doing work that makes sense.
