Senior Media Relations Manager
Exclusive opportunity to join a large, high-profile financial services organisation at a pivotal moment in its evolution, as it expands its offering across both consumer and business banking.
This is a senior role leading corporate media relations activity, with a strong focus on financial and corporate communications including results, AGM and key corporate milestones. The role sits at the centre of the organisation’s reputation strategy, shaping how it is represented across business and personal finance media.
The successful candidate will play a key role in building and enhancing the organisation’s profile, working closely with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver integrated communications activity.
Hybrid working – 2 days in City of London, 3 from home
Key Responsibilities: Lead the development and delivery of proactive media strategies aligned to business priorities, enhancing reputation across business and consumer finance media Own and deliver communications around key corporate milestones including financial results, AGM and other major announcements Build and maintain strong relationships with national, business and financial media, as well as wider external stakeholders Lead the day-to-day press office activity, managing reactive enquiries and approving external statements Oversee crisis and issues communications, ensuring readiness and leading response during high-profile incidents Use data, insight and media analysis to inform strategy, measure impact and continuously optimise activity Work closely with marketing, brand and broader communications teams to deliver integrated campaigns Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing counsel on media strategy, messaging and reputational risk Operate as a senior point of contact within the media function, collaborating across teams to drive high-quality output and consistency
Skills & Experience: Proven experience in corporate and financial communications, including results and major corporate events Strong media relations background with an established network across business and financial media Experience leading press office activity and managing high-volume reactive media engagement Demonstrated expertise in reputation management, issues and crisis communications Background within financial services or a similarly regulated, complex environment Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience advising senior leadership Highly analytical, with the ability to use data and insight to shape strategy and measure effectiveness Strong commercial awareness, able to align communications activity to wider business objectives Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt style to different audiences
