The post holder will have a fantastic opportunity to join an expanding team of pharmacy technicians across
Whittington Health District Nursing.
The post holder will participate in the provision of administration of medication as well as the provision
of medicines management and pharmaceutical services within the District Nursing Service in Haringey
or Islington. The successful candidate must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and
will have successfully completed an NVQ in Pharmaceutical Services. The role will involve administering
medication, performing in depth medication reviews, advising team members on good medicines
management, medicine reconciliation, self-administration and health promotion activities
To provide and assist with the health care of clients in their own homes and elsewhere in
community.
Participate in medicine reconciliation to improve medicines optimisation across the primary and
secondary care interface.
Participation in medication history screening, involving problem solving, communicating with
patients, GP’s, and other healthcare professionals.
Participate in the development and expansion of role of pharmacy technician. Participate in Whittington Health medicines management initiatives. Participate in the extended roles for technicians as the opportunity arises and other clinical roles

Medication administration activities will include the administration of oral medication, subcutaneous
and intramuscular injections such as insulin, low molecular weight heparin, and hydroxocobalamin. The
successful candidate will further develop this role to include the administration of intravenous
medication via a peripherally inserted central catheter, and competency assessing health care assistants
undertaking medication administration. The successful candidate will be involved in education and
training of pharmacy technicians, registered nurses, and health care assistants. They will facilitate CPD
and work with the professional development pharmacy technician to undertake clinical audits, quality
improvements and practice development. The successful candidate will be required to work unsocial
hours as required by the service (including weekend and evening working).
