Senior Practice Manager Sheffield £55,000 - £66,000 + bonus + share scheme There's a point in most careers where you stop wanting to just manage a portfolio and start wanting real ownership. This is one of those roles. A growing, well-backed firm within the accountancy space is investing heavily in its regional presence and needs someone to take full control of a key site in Sheffield and shape how it performs over the next few years. This isn't about maintaining the status quo. It's about building something better, leading from the front, and having a genuine say in how the practice evolves.
The role in a nutshell
As a Senior Practice Manager, you'll take responsibility for the full operation of a busy site. That means people, clients, delivery, and performance all sitting with you. You'll be working closely with senior leadership but given the autonomy to run things properly, not just follow a script. The environment sits firmly within modern accountancy, with a strong focus on using technology to improve delivery and give clients more meaningful insight.
What you'll be doing
Leading day-to-day site performance across client delivery, operations, and compliance Managing and developing a team, setting clear expectations and driving standards Owning key client relationships and acting as a senior point of contact Reviewing accounts, management reporting, and statutory work across a varied client base Overseeing bookkeeping, VAT, and payroll processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness Driving improvements in internal processes, systems, and workflows Handling escalations and ensuring issues are resolved properly, not just patched up Working alongside senior leadership to align site performance with wider business goals
What we're looking for
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with solid post-qualified experience in accountancy Background in UK practice with strong technical grounding in compliance and reporting Proven leadership experience, managing teams and developing individuals Comfortable dealing directly with clients and building long-term relationships Strong grasp of systems such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks Someone who can balance detail with big-picture thinking A natural organiser who can juggle priorities without dropping standards
What's on offer
Salary circa £60,000 depending on experience Annual performance-related bonus Company share scheme 25 days holiday plus bank holidays A genuine leadership position with autonomy and influence Clear progression as the business continues to expand The chance to shape how a Sheffield-based team grows and performs
This Senior Practice Manager role suits someone who's ready to step beyond managing workload and into leading a business unit properly. If you're already operating at that level, or close to it, this gives you the platform to prove it.
