A Little More About Your Role…

As a Senior Project Manager – Onshore Renewables, you will be expected to provide day-to-day support to the Onshore Projects ranging from Solar, Wind, BESS, DCO, Grid Connections etc as required by the business.

The Project Manager is accountable the Head of Project Management (HOD-PM) and the Head Onshore Renewables for delivering all aspects of the project to the agreed plan and in accordance with the Business Management System (BMS). The Project Manager is responsible for confirming the plan for delivering the entire project, mobilising the project team and managing its delivery across organisational boundaries through to successful completion. The Project Manager is also responsible for leading and motivating the project team and supporting their wellbeing, including line management of more Junior members of staff.

As a Senior member of the Project Management team, you will also be expected to attend Leadership meetings on behalf of the HOD – PM, where required and support the HOD where required regarding management and resourcing of the Onshore PM Team as outlined below.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Proposals.

A key element of the Project Managers role is to support the business from a business development perspective, building on their external industry contracts to assist in the development of the onshore department sales pipeline.

Mobilise for delivery of the project.

Where appropriate, engages in a handover from the bid team. Finalises the plan for delivering the project and communicates to the project team. Agrees work packages with Discipline leads, as appropriate. Co-ordinates interfaces and collaboration between teams in different Cost Centres.

Technical Understanding.

The Project Manager will work closely with the discipline technical leads to ensure a technical acceptable solution and resource are provided in accordance with the agreed scope of works.

Understanding and capability to lead EPC procurement projects, with proven understanding of the process, including Grid Connection Experience is desirable. Engages external Sub-consultants, Sub-contractors or Suppliers. Agrees and understands the security controls associated with the project. Ensures technical solutions and deliverables meet the required standard and quality. Delivers required outcomes in accordance with the contract while exploring opportunities for Client and stakeholder 'added value’. Regularly reviews the projects finances.

Monitors project costs using the Horizon Business Platform and ensures the project makes the planned return as a minimum. Recognises revenue in line with contractual agreements. Regularly reviews cost to complete and any re-forecasting needs, seeking to improve margins whenever possible.

Manages risk on the project.

Identifies, records, evaluates risk both positive (opportunities) and negative (threats). Agrees and communicates action to be taken in response.

Monitors and controls delivery of the project to the plan.

Facilitates regular, robust and holistic project reviews on the progress and performance of the project with both internal and external project stakeholders.

Commercial Success.

The Project Manager, with support from the Project Director shall have full commercial awareness of the project, ensuring successful delivery of the project in accordance with contact, utilising management of change should there be any scope creep.
