Description: Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for12 Months To help deliver our vision we are looking for Social Worker Assistants who are enthusiastic, have a keen eye for detail and have a strong track record of working with children, young people and their families to achieve positive outcomes. Join one of our Children's Social Care teams and you will play a key role in improving the life for families and children in Leicester. Ofsted recognised that our team are well supported by their managers. We prioritise support, learning, development and wellbeing across our workforce with strengths in practice regularly recognised. We also offer agile and flexible working that supports a healthy work life balance. These are full time posts with core working hours of 8.30am till 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am till 4.30pm on Friday. These posts are temporary for12 months. We will consider this vacancy on a secondment basis for Leicester City Council employees. What you'll be doing As a Social Work Assistant, you'll support the emotional, social, physical wellbeingas well as home life stability of children who are looked after aged 0-18. This is delivered though working closely with the allocated social worker and team managerinprogressing their care planning and pathway planning;arranging and supervisingfamily timecontacts, appointments, activities;completing direct work with children, young people and their families bespoke to their needs and individual situations. You will undertake Life Story work which is a significant part of the work that we do to help children understand their journey prior to and during their time in care. You will regularly liaise with parents/careers to provide information, advice and support. You will also organise/arrange support and share information with agencies and the network around the child and young person. You will support social workers to complete a variety of administrative tasks to support the statutory functioning of the service. This could be legal papers, records, and case files. All which require attention to detail and thorough completion. Our children and young people are placed locally and nationwide. Your ability to drive and travel long distance is essential. There will be occasions when working beyond the core hours is needed due to emergency situations although much of the work can be completed in a planned way. What you'll need You'll have previous experience of providing services directly to children and/or families. Including, experience of supporting children/families with matters that are sensitive and/or contentious. Being able to support and develop young people understanding their specific needs. Since you will be attending visits you will also need to hold a Full driving licence.
