About the Role

Are you passionate about working within Adult Social Care and making a difference to the lives of others? Could this be the next step in your Social Work career?

We are looking for a skilled Social Worker to join the Adult Mental Health North Team. Mental Health Social Care Teams are specialist teams that commission and review a wide variety of packages of care for citizens who are in contact with secondary mental health services, with the aim of promoting independence and wellbeing.

We welcome applications from candidates at all stages of their Social Work career, and have a structured career development framework in place for all Social Workers:

Social Worker Level 1 – Newly qualified, eligible to commence the ASYE programme

Social Worker Level 2 – ASYE completed within the last 12 months, building experience and competency

Social Worker Level 3 – Experienced Social Worker with at least 12 months post-ASYE experience

Social Worker Level 4 – Advanced Social Worker, holding AMHP, BIA or Practice Educator status

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carrying out strengths‑based assessments, reviews and care planning under the Care Act 2014.
  • Leading and contributing to Section 42 safeguarding enquiries.
  • Mental Health Tribunal Hearings and writing Social Circumstance Reports
  • Working closely with AMHPs, health partners, housing and community providers.
  • Supporting individuals with complex presentations, including psychosis, personality disorder, trauma and substance misuse
  • Managing a varied caseload, including hospital discharges, residential placements, community support packages and crisis‑driven work.
  • Attending multi‑agency meetings such as MAPPA, MDTs and risk panels.

What We Offer

  • A supportive and knowledgeable management team.
  • Regular reflective supervision and opportunities for CPD.
  • A friendly, committed and supportive team who genuinely care about the people we support.

About You

  • Qualified Social Worker (SWE registered).
  • Previous mental health experience — experience of working with citizens who are open to secondary mental health services is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding frameworks. Understanding of the Mental health Act is desirable.
  • Confidence in managing risk and working autonomously
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of professionals.
  • A reflective practitioner who values supervision, learning and continuous development.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
