This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly and highly motivated multidisciplinary team, including a full range of healthcare professionals. Due to internal transfer we now can recruit two band 7 specialist clinical pharmacists to join our growing team in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis.

These posts are based at the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway and offer an excellent opportunity for experienced and self‑motivated pharmacists to help continue exciting work in developing a clinical and patient‑focused pharmacy service. The post holder will be one of a team of pharmacists and technicians working at this hospital and will be responsible for the clinical pharmacy service to several wards. There are no shortages of professional development opportunities as our Pharmacy team is leading on a few new projects! The chosen candidate may also have opportunities to get involved in providing a clinical pharmacy service to the local hospice and remotely to the other two hospitals throughout the archipelago. The pharmacist team work closely with colleagues in Primary Care Pharmacy to enhance safe patient transition over boundaries of care. We are also engaged in a novel ‘Front Door Service’ and support Hospital at Home.

The service is using HEPMA (electronic prescribing and medicines administration) across Western Isles Hospital (Lewis), in Uist and Barra Hospital (Benbecula) and St Brendans Hospital (Barra). We are also in the process of installing Omnicell medicines vending machines at several strategic locations. In addition to this we have a capital project for a dispensary refit to ensure that we can work effectively into the future with a modern updated facility.

The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme). This post is not eligible for relocation expenses.

As from 1/4/2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis.
