Specialist Teacher within Specialist Teaching Service, Lancashire

STP&C, Lancashire term-time only| Salary scale: M6 – UPS3 + 1-2 SEN Pt

Lancashire County Council is seeking to appoint experienced SENDCOs and qualified Specialist Teachers fixed term for 2 years from September 2026 – August 2028 to work throughout Lancashire supporting mainstream inclusion. There are multiple positions available, part-time / full-time and secondments will be considered. The positions are new within the service and are part of the mitigations to support mainstream inclusion and accessible support for schools. The Specialist Teaching Service sits within the Inclusion Service and is made up of multiple Specialist Teaching teams including 3 Early Years teams, 2 Sensory Teams, Primary+ Team and Inclusion Engagement Support (IEST) team. In addition, the service also includes Alternative Provision and Elective Home Education teams alongside.

The Primary+ Team is a team of specialists who deliver peripatetic teaching services that support schools and settings within Lancashire in meeting the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. This service offers traded and non-traded needs-led support to schools throughout Lancashire. These new posts will work specifically to support mainstream inclusion, SEN provision to ensure it is high-quality and purposeful and to provide individual, group or whole school support. This may include working alongside other services and teams within the local authority to achieve

The successful candidates will be a qualified teacher with a SEND qualification. A Level 7 qualification in SEND is desirable to undertake diagnostic assessments. The candidates should be able to demonstrate significant experience of working with young people with Specials Educational Needs and Disabilities. The candidate will need skills and confidence to work in partnership with schools, parents and other agencies to help young people learn and achieve. This role involves working in various settings across Lancashire predominantly with children KS1 – KS4 and occasionally Post 16.

We want a teacher who can: -

Deliver specialist advice and support to children and young people, their families, schools, and other providers across the county Complete a ssessments and information gathering relevant to CYP with SEND Deliver face to face SEND training Provide engaging and inspiring learning opportunities Provide SEND support that connects with a young person Model and develop strategies, routines and resources to support children and staff Write intervention/ support plans/reports for young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities Work with a wide range of agencies Provide advice to the Local Authority to assist it in carrying out its statutory duties for children and young people with special educational needs and disability (SEND) Monitor progress and use data to show impact Share professional advice in everyday practice with colleagues Advise and support on the ‘assess, plan, do, review’ model and identify appropriate next steps
