The role:

We are seeking a Technical Officer to oversee compliance for Flow and Spill assets across Cheshire. In this role, you will provide both scientific and practical technical expertise to support regulatory, spill, and operational teams in achieving key business objectives, including regulatory, financial, and customer performance targets.

You will ensure that all Flow and Spill assets are managed efficiently and effectively, delivering optimal performance within agreed budgetary limits while maintaining full regulatory compliance and meeting Customer Service standards.

What you'll be doing:

As a Technical Officer you will be required to analyse and interpret operational performance information in the area related to flow and spill, proactively identifying and implementing corrective actions within Health & Safety requirements; and escalating regulatory or performance risks to the Regional Operational Performance Manager and operational as appropriate.

Provide accurate area data for regulatory submissions and Environment Agency correspondence. Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific action plans to ensure compliance with flow and spill legislation and company standards. Analyse operational performance data, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions to optimise asset efficiency and regulatory compliance. Work collaboratively with technical teams and process operators to maintain high standards of operational performance, safety, and compliance. Lead quality assurance processes, maintain compliance documentation, and oversee alarm management for flow and spill assets. Support colleagues through training and capability development, promoting best practice in flow and spill operations and process optimisation.

What you'll bring:

To be considered for this role you’ll need a wide range of analytical skills to effectively analyse performance data for spill and flow assets, in addition to well-developed IT, numerical, analytical and problem solving skills to deliver operational and financial performance targets. You’ll also need:

Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills combined with effective team working to successfully influence key stakeholders An excellent knowledge and practical experience of wastewater treatment processes and best operational practice A technical knowledge of wastewater flow and spill related assets and the associated operational, and maintenance requirements to ensure delivery of lowest whole life cost solutions Ability to demonstrate practical experience working in wastewater treatment operations and maintenance and experience of delivering and maintaining performance improvement Understanding and implementation of future regulatory requirements within wastewater operations

A full UK driving licence is required for this role
